Creating better experiences with new comforts at Fort Collins Elementary Schools

By Field Superintendents Robert Pruett and Rob BranamanFast-paced projects can be stressful. Yet, as we worked with the Poudre School District, subcontractors, and the Dohn crew, it was clear team work makes all the difference. The working relationship and trust we have with PSD is amazing. We have enjoyed our projects immensely and were able to learn so much. One of the highlights of the school projects was the opportunity to work with the Colorado State University interns; it is always a great privilege to pass down knowledge to the next generation of construction management.
The renovations themselves were interesting. Bennett Elementary School, for example, was the largest mechanical project Robert had been involved in. The building was gutted down to its framing and remodeled in only eleven weeks. As for Dunn Elementary School, the most bizarre part of the project was when the team removed a ceiling from the nurses’ office and discovered a wax coated paper Pepsi cup, which was probably from the 70’s! We experienced a wide range of emotions during the project, and I hope everyone has that much fun at least once in their lives.
Thanks to everyone working hard to stay on schedule, we got to enjoy the greatest payoff at the end of any project: a happy client. It is an honor to know our work on upgrading the air conditioning at the schools will improve the quality of the learning environment for students and teachers alike.
